Manchester based Rimo Designs imports the the first RugMark Nepalese rugs into the UK

July 2007 – Rimo Designs - run by Cheshire born business man Richard Morrey - is the first company in the UK to import and sell Nepalese rugs bearing the RUGMARK label.

Richard only buys from Nepalese producers that he has visited and has regular contact with. 'At Rimo we are passionate about creating fantastic design and great quality' says Richard, 'but working conditions have always been a priority, so to get the RUGMARK label not only emphasises our commitment to decent working conditions, but also gives our customers the reassurance that there has been no exploitation in the manufacture of their rug. The only condition that I put on the growth of this business is that we never lose the strong bond we enjoy with our producers and that we expand out program of help to the villagers in Nepal.'

Rimo Design also runs its own corporate responsibility program in the rug-making region of the Himalayas, providing funding for toilets and washing facilities for small village schools, helping to stop the spread of infection.
